The PACTE Matrix

The PACTE (Promoting Active Cities Throughout Europe) project is a comprehensive initiative that aims to tackle the global issue of physical inactivity by focusing on urban settings.

Its primary objectives are to raise awareness among municipalities, policymakers, and citizens about the potential of urban environments as providers of sports, physical activity, and healthy living. The project provides a customizable tool called the PACTE Matrix for Change, which helps municipalities develop their own Active City Action Plans by assessing themselves against proven elements of action and identifying relevant strategies.

By targeting four key settings - Active City, Active School, Active Mobility, and Active Workplace - PACTE aims to create environments that encourage active lifestyles and improve the well-being of citizens across Europe. Through resource sharing, best practices, and collaboration, PACTE supports municipalities in building urban environments that are accessible, active, and promote the health and well-being of all citizens.

UEFA Women’s Football Development Programme

As the European football governing body, UEFA is committed to the development of girls and women’s football in all of its affiliated 54 member associations. The UEFA Women’s Football Development Programme (WFDP) was launched to support the extensive progress of the women’s game, the principal aim being the provision of ample opportunities to all girls' and women who want to play football within their community, regardless of skill or talent, offering them a safe environment in which to play to their own aspirations.

Many associations have used their own star players and professional coaches as role models, organising football festivals, youth tournaments or summer camps. The projects span many age groups, some girls as young as five going up to 16 years of age. It is clear that supporting the women’s game at the base level and empowering young girls to play is essential to both growth and sustainability.

Many of the WFDP projects to date have included newly launched women’s competitions, leagues or elite youth programmes thus providing more opportunities for talented players to compete at a regional level and potentially advance to the international arena. In tandem, and of equal importance, many associations have invested in coaching and referee courses to raise the level of female match officials and instructors available to nurture and guide the upcoming new players long-term. Some countries have opened dedicated women’s football centres which are fully operational as training centres and represent the hub of their national women’s game.

UEFA pledges to lead the development of all aspects of girls and women's football as a key priority and will endeavour to act as a role model through concrete action - this includes the appointment of women into governing positions.

Tennis Stars on 55+

The main project activities were developing the adapted tennis programme for senior citizens,  sharing good practices among the project team and organising a final sport event. This was achieved with the mutual collaboration of 5 tennis clubs from 5 European countries, all working with senior citizens. The project lasted for 24 months.

The training was developed through collaboration among the partners. Each of them developed a specific training programme adapted to their local circumstances. It was developed daily, for a period of six months in the period of two years. Each training had its main objective specifically tailored for participants.

There were several tennis coaches who supported the training programme. The tennis programme was held on the club's tennis courts of different turfs. After the training programme, participants filled out a survey and the overall conclusion was that it was a great and unique experience. Participants asked the partners to organise the event again.

The adapted training programme was collected and analysed by the project team. The schedule, programme and evaluation were combined in one booklet - Collection of good practices which were shared among the project team and with relevant key stakeholders at local and national level such as Croatian Tennis Federation. Fhe final sport event was organised in each project partners' countries two times: in 2020 and 2021 (altogether it was organised 10 times). These events served as a celebration of participants' commitment to the tennis programme.
