Tennis club Lošinj-Jadranka hosted the first project meeting

Veli Lošinj (Croatia), 21-23 April 2023

The Croatian project partner Tennis Club Lošinj – Jadranka hosted the first Transnational Project Meeting in the lovely town of Veli Lošinj (Croatia) between the 21st and 23rd of April. Throughout two intensive working days, we reviewed the work done and planned future activities.

During the first meeting day, the partner representatives presented to each other and presented the best practices collected on training methodologies in grassroots sports and initiatives aiming to encourage women participation in grassroots sports. The coordinating partner presented the report on the work that has already been done on the project.

The second meeting day was devoted to brainstorming focused on improving the qualifications of trainers and coaches using a unique technique named Hackathon. The partners’ representatives, trainers, coaches, and volunteers, exchanged knowledge and experience in sports training and discussed about developing an innovative training methodology and guidelines for trainers and coaches for the target group.

We are very proud that the legend of Croatian and international tennis Mr. Ivan Ljubičič visited us and expressed support for Tennis4women project.

Tennis club Lošinj - Jadranka organized an excellent meeting and introduced us to the towns of Mali and Veli Lošinj in a wonderful way. We visited the extraordinary Blue World Institute (https://www.blue-world.org/) which focuses its research and protection of the sea and marine organisms, as well as education on the need to preserve the sea ecosystem and endangered marine species. In the Garden of fine scents, we learned about the Lošinj island's medicinal herbs. Like a cherry on the cake felt visiting the Museum of Apoxyomenos (https://www.muzejapoksiomena.hr/en/) -  a unique archaeological and architectural cultural institution entirely dedicated to only one exhibit – the bronze statue of a young athlete, the Apoxyomenos which was taken out of the sea where it spent nearly two millennia.

Our next meeting will be hosted by the Slovenian partners in Ljubljana in the second part of May 2023.
